Welcome Anthony Cervino

In January 2024, Anthony Cervino visited Longyearbyen for eight days as the first part of his Spitsbergen Artist Residency. During this research trip, he developed ideas for artwork in response to the polar nights and the broader political, cultural, and ecological landscape of Svalbard. Over the next six months, he reflected upon this initial experience, refined his ideas, and created new works in his studio in the USA. Cervino then returned to Svalbard in July 2024 to mount an exhibition of these new artworks. Titled *When You Wish You Were Here*, the work displayed at the residency center serves as mementos of ephemeral experiences and souvenirs marking fractures—both environmental and personal.
