Welcome Helmi Marie Langsepp to the residency.

Helmi is an architect and founder of a studio Lee Ell which focuses on experimental architecture. She is a junior researcher at TalTech University with the interest on impermanence and nature based solutions. Alongside, Helmi Marie is an editor-in-chief of Space Choreography, a magasine on the intersection of architecture and movement.

The work investigates the design principles applicable to the High Arctic climate. Starting with the premise that everything is possible, Melting Models examines three materials: water, sub-zero temperatures, and impermanence. It considers the snow drift on the roads, soot accumulation in the harbors, and heat absorption of black ice. Six design and technology solutions are proposed to mediate specific intersections of urban and natural High Arctic environments. It calls for imagining bolder, nature-based solutions to be integrated on an urban scale.
