Welcome Pat Barker

Canadian artist Pat Barker comes to the Spitsbergen Artists Residency with a goal to continue her experimentation with abstract modalities in painting images of the northern regions. This allowed her more freedom in her method of painting to rely more on intuition and instinct. Working with highly textured cold wax methods, this new process allows for more spontaneity and vulnerability in rendering abstract landscapes of the Arctic where the fragility of nature is contrasted with the apparent strength of the landscape’s forms.
